Each chapter contains a full explanation of the steps for you to practise at home. Artists have used pastels for over 200 years and those paintings are as fresh and brilliant as the day they were created because pastel does not discolour, fade or crack like liquid paints. Well known pastel artists whose work can still be admired after more than 100 years are Edgar Degas, Eduard Manet and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. <\/p>\n<p>This app was created by Marie-Jeanne Ribbink, born in the Netherlands in 1959, and now living with her  husband and animals in the West of Ireland. She specialises in animal and wild life paintings done in pastel on velour. In March 2011, her &#8216;Ballinasloe Horses&#8217; paintings was awarded first prize at the Pastel Guild of Europe March competition.
